Arriving at a Healthy No to sexual violence in all its many forms means arriving at a safe place for a Healthy YES to ‘SELF!’

If you have been victimized by sexual assault please please reach out for assistance—and if you know of a friend, co-worker, or a member of your own family suffering from sexual violence (past or present) please encourage your dear ones to find a safe place to heal. It’s important to not allow yourself or others to be isolated or pressured into bottling up their experiences and leaving them to fester.

Sexual violence statistics in the United States, and across the globe, are brutal. The 1994 Violence Against Women Act that made sexual violence against women illegal in the U.S. was legislated by Congress only 23 years ago! It wasn’t so long ago that marital rape was legal in the United States, and to this day we are still seeing the effects of this drastic oversight.

Sexual violence is such a complex issue, and coming to terms with just how rooted sexual violence is in our culture can be sickening. The patriarchal mindset impacting both women and men is so prevalent in our culture that we can get lost in the maze of unhealthy thinking, and find ourselves struggling with clarity of thought.

While it’s important to recognize the severity of our situation, it’s easy to get bogged down and overwhelmed with the state of the world in relation to sexual violence, especially if you have experienced sexual trauma in your life. It’s important to take time out of your day to draw on the dynamic, protective forces within yourself to create a secure space for your body, mind and spirit. Surround yourself with family, friends, and community members who are kind and loving and trustworthy. Engage in practices that strengthen your YES to the beauty within yourself. We need to let our healthy selves be a force of positive vibrations to whoever and whatever we encounter. These practices will create a momentum that will lead you toward healing and reaching your full potential.

At Clear Path Wellness of the Lehigh Valley, we are developing practices that strengthen our YES to self and YES to a creative community to create a positive and respectful environment for all. We are seeing individuals with new-found courage moving away from unhealthy life patterns so they can be their best self. These women and men are inspiring, and the energy of their courage is educating and expanding the circle of change.

So be sure to take time out of each and every day to work on your self-care. Bring flowers to your home, call a good friend, send a loving note to someone in need, go for a motorcycle ride, walk in the grass, eat healthy, be grateful. Reaching out to a safe community is a sacred component to the healing process. At Clear Path Wellness, you will find an experienced counselor and heart rhythm meditation mentor, a passionate energy medicine practitioner, a vibrant trauma sensitive yoga teacher. We can also refer you to a compassionate massage therapist and a beginning level Heart Rhythm Meditation class. Make the first call or guide your loved one to make the connection. We know the challenge of the healing path from sexual trauma. It is hard work, but worth every blessed effort to see you fulfill your potential.

Blessings of Light and Love, Mary
